    Go with a standalone player
    Rating: 4
The movie quality of this drive is pretty good. However with the prices of standalone HD-DVD players going down, I would recommend going that route. A standalone player will give you more connection options; plus you don't have to have your XBOX 360 running all the time. Also, on the unit I got, the eject button is VERY picky. I usually have to hit the button a dozen times before the door will open. I have read where others have had the same problem. I picked up an HD-A2 player on sale for $100. I am able to use HDMI with that unit so I can take advantage of standard DVD upconversion and high definition audio. If you decide to go with this player, you won't be disappointed with the quality; I just think there are better options available.
    BE CAUTIOUS-spend wisely

I don't have an x-box, but my neighbor, who like me is a big movie fan, went through 3 of these before he got one that worked, and that's after they had been on the market for some time. Better off getting the Playstation 3, which is now $399, lower on some sites, and you get Spiderman 3 inside and 5 free movies of your choice, plus you can play all of the movies from Disney, 20th Century Fox, MGM, Anchor Bay, Starz, Sony/Columbia, United Artists, Anchor Bay and other studios that are not releasing movies on the hd-dvd format. To me, it seems a waste of $180.00. If you plan on playing such holiday releases as Ratatouille, Cars, any Pixar or Disney title (Meet the Robinsons, High School Musical, Pirates of the Caribbean 1-2-3), Simpsons Movie, Surfs Up, Fantastic Four 1 and 2, and a long list of titles, this add-on, for almost 200.00, will not play them.

If you have a 1080p high definition television, which is now the high definition standard, this will not play your movies in that format. 1080i is an inferior format and not as good as 1080p. Why spend 200.00 for something inferior to play on what you spend on your tv?
Works great, but was "damaged" when recieved. Was able to fix it though

The product works great overall. BUT... when I got the 360 HD-DVD drive the clips that hold the casing together on the right side were somehow out, with the top sort of bent up... My older brother noticed it before I did. I had to take a flat head and pry the right side out to get the clips(that were part of the top and why the top was bent up) back inside, and now you can't tell that anything was wrong. Everything else has worked great. I'm still waiting on the HD-DVDs that you send out for, that you get for free. Not sure how long that takes, but its been a couple weeks.

But overall, the product works well, and I'm sure my situation is rare, and I'm not one to make a big stink about things unless its actually damaged.

BTW, if you have a pretty high end PC, or even just a fairly new pc, you can hook it up to your PC via USB. Theres not much you have to do.
