Customer Reviews
Xbox 360 is the one for grownups
Rating: 4
The reason we all buy these righteously fun machines is because of the amount and types of ridiculously unawarely timestealing fun games they bring forth. Xbox 360 while having a good deal of the same games as the competition, usually has theirs out first and some looking and playing better. But the thing that sets them apart is their exclusive games as Halo 3, Gears of War, and Ninja Gaiden 2 which will be coming out next year as well as all the incredible things that are available on Xbox live from game you can play while talking to your best friends across the world, downloading new games or even movies and tv shows and more to come. This is your machine for digital entertainment as I have not even covered it all. My hands are twitching, time for some bioshock.
Easily one of the best consoles...
Rating: 5
Pros:
*Good game selection-
The Xbox 360 has many exclusive titles to choose from, personally I think 360 games outdo the other systems. GoW, Halo, Mass Effect, and Bioshock, are some of the best titles on the market (and only on 360).
*Xbox Live-
Microsoft has invented the best online gaming system yet. I'm able to download movies, get new game demos, download extra stuff for my games, talk to my friends, and most importantly play with other people on my games. For some extra content you have to pay with "Microsoft Points", which you can either buy online w/a credit card or buy codes at stores. The only problem with this is that getting a connection may be tricky for some people, and you have to pay a price to play online.
*Good graphics-
Playing Gears of War on a standard def TV looks amazing, but on an HDTV its mind-boggling. Some people say the PS3 has better graphics capabilities, but with the right stuff they look the same.
*Nice Interface-
The best part about the interface is that it is customizable. On Xbox Live you can download new skins for the menus for a very small price. Also, you can now create your own "Gamertag" which pretty much is your ID. You can create your own picture, motto, and more. If you want you can even download new pictures on Live(the ones loaded on aren't that good), again for a small price. In addition to that Gamertags display a "Gamerscore" which shows how many "Achievments" you've earned. Achievments are pretty much a unique way to say what you've accomplished. You start with zero and earn so-many points each achivement you earn. Say you get a Triple Kill w/a Brute Shot in Halo 3, you'll get x number of points which adds to your grand total. Because each game has many Achievments you can play for hours just to show your Gamerscore off to other players on Xbox Live.
Cons:
*Previous Xbox games-
Even though most games from the original Xbox are playable, some aren't, and some can have lower FPS rates than on the original Xbox. It isn't all that important though.
*Rare overheating-
Many people stress that their 360s overheat often, but mine (which is in a cramped area) has only overheated once in 2 years.
*Small Hard Drive-
Compared to the PS3 (60GB) the Xbox 360's Hard Drive is puny(20GB), and can hold only a few demos and movies/shows. Of course you can upgrade to 120GB)
Summary:
The Xbox 360 is a great console, especially if you want good games and have online access. But you should buy the [[ASIN:B000OYMSL6 Xbox 360 Elite System Console Includes 120GB Hard Drive]], because it comes w/120 GB and more.
NOTE: Don't listen to the hundreds of PS3 fanboys giving this item a bad review, they don't know what they're talking about.
Expensive and unreliable
Rating: 1
This console is nothing but a beefed up version of the original XBox, faster processor, faster graphics card. Despite the perception, it's actually more expensive than a PS3 if you add up the wireless card, HD Drive, and even then you end-up with 3 pieces, a bulky external power supply, a likely to be obsolete HD Drive, and no gaming experience larger than 9 gigs for this generation. The major accomplishment so far, is the legendary failure rate of 33%, which is likely the highest ever in the electronics industry.. Yet another rushed product from Microsoft to spoil the party..
