If you have a passion for perfectly prepared pasta, try making your own delectable lasagna noodles, fettuccine, or linguine fini with this pasta roller set that fits all KitchenAid stand mixers. The three attachments include a pasta roller, a fettuccine cutter, and a linguine fini cutter. Just prepare pasta dough and form it into small rectangles which are then fed into one of the attachments. Out come uniform lasagna noodles, fettuccine, linguine, or angel hair pasta. The pasta can be enjoyed fresh or frozen or dried for later. Complete directions, cooking tips, and recipes are included, though cleaning the attachments can be a bit of a challenge, as they can't be washed in water, and any dried-on pasta particles must be removed with the included cleaning brush and toothpicks. --Marcie Bovetz

Pasta Attachment for Kitchen Aide Mixer
Rating: 4
The Fettucccine attachment works fine, the roller works fine, however the spaghetti attachment DOES NOT CUT THE SPAGHETTI.
Takes a little practice and follow recipe EXACTLY

Makes great pasta and is so much easier than old fashioned Atlas crank pasta machines that generally took multiple hands to operate: one to feed, one to crank, one to catch and finally one to hang the pasta on the dryer. With the KitchenAid attachments, I can make pasta singlehandedly. One hand to feed and one hand to catch.
I'm not sure I would have gotten this when my children were still young as working together to make the pasta was part of the fun. However, as my children are now grown it's great to be a able to get the job done quickly and easily solo. Maybe I'll save the old Atlas crank pasta machine for my grandchildren's visits when they are older if it turns out they love to "play in the kitchen" also.
I noticed several people mentioned having a problem with the dough sticking or breaking...which would seem to indicate either your dough is too wet or too dry. You will need to follow the instructions and maybe do a little more kneading to make sure your ingredients are well mixed. Finally check your number setting, you might want to experiment a little to figure out what is too thin or too thick. Making pasta is a little like pie crust you need to follow the instructions initially and get a feel for how the dough should look and feel...but it's definitely worth the effort.
In any case, I'm thrilled with my new toy and nothing tastes as good as really fresh homemade pasta so enjoy!
Wonderful! It's that good--don't think twice, buy it.!

Occasionally things come around that are just superlative, that work perfectly and make life and the task work involved truly easier. This KPRA set is such a product. I love fresh pasta, but found the crank style machines, while very effective, a bit of a hassle--getting it clamped to the counter, and then cranking and working the pasta alone--all of a clanky, slightly misaligned and never quite easy affair. This KPRA set ends all of that. Like other have reviewed, you can make pasta alone, no clamping problems, as the sturdiness of the KA mixers make this set super stable, and puts the roller and cutters at the perfect height.
Using a little drier mix (1 cup flour to one egg, with a little water), you can make a dough that at first comes out almost crumbly through the first couple of passes on setting 1 of the roller, but pass it through 4-6 times and the machine "kneads" the dough for you, and it's silky smooth and perfect in a minute or less. Plus it's drier, so you can instantly cut the pasta as thin spaghetti and the strands won't stick together. READ THIS: you can literally make fresh pasta for 2-4 in under 10 minutes. Honestly. Let the KA roller do the kneading for you by folding the sheet over onto itself and passing it through the 1 setting (the thickest). It comes out silky smooth, with the gluten wonderfully formed, and you never have to knead or let the dough rest. This is the secret to 10 minutes fresh pasta. I learned this from some videos on the net, and it makes all the difference in the world for FAST fresh pasta.
In contrast, using the wetter dough recipe that comes with this set (3/4 cup flour to one egg--with a 20 minute rest period), makes for spaghetti that often sticks together out of the cutter. You can separate it by hand, and it's fine, but what a hassle. So that's mixing the dough, then waiting for 20 minutes, then rolling and cutting, only to have it stick together. No thank-you--go drier and let the KA do the work.
Wonderful set--I have purchased the additional cutter (angel-hair, wide egg noodle) as well, and you could not pry these tools away from me! I love my fresh (and inexpensive!) pasta!
