They're permanently secured by a solid ring, are sturdily made of thick, red plastic, and are dishwasher-safe. The spoons accurately measure 1/4-teaspoon, 1/2-teaspoon, 1-teaspoon, 1/2-tablespoon, and 1-tablespoon amounts. Their handles are slightly curved, making it easier to obtain level measurements in the proper wrist position. When people come to my kitchen all they see is RED!! I have been collecting the red series from Kithenaid and have not been displeased yet with ANY of their products! This measuring spoon set is the best I have had. I do a LOT of baking so I use my bakeware on a regular basis. I know quality and that is why I am stuck on Kitchenaid. You will not be disappointed with this measuring spoon set!
