Fifa 08
Rating: 3
Fifa 08 leave a lot to be desire, even though its a relatively a fun game, it again falls short of at least what i been waiting since i bought an xbox360 and 07 was disapointin and ps3 hoping it will be better for 08.the last good fifa was prob ps2 06. But anyways fifa 08 def improves a lil on the defensive side, you wont have to desperatly press every button tryin to get the last defender anymore though its harder to actually take the ball awya from the defender which kinda cancels each other out. on offense the "assisted" passing and shooting are bad i woudl suggest change it all to manual. instead on workin on it being more realistic they just made the kicking and passing so bad on accuracy, that it makes it more realistic cause u dont get every pass on but not beacuase of good defense just bad offense. overall again im disapointed is hould just kept 06 for ps2 and save money on this game the ps3 and the hdtv. Hopefully winning eleven game play will be good enough to make up for the lack of graphics fifa always has.
Best FIFA Ever
Rating: 5
I've personally purchased every FIFA game since 2001 and played the game since it first appeared on the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis. That's over a decade of yearly iterations plus the "World Cup" and "UEFA" editions. I know what I'm talking about.
FIFA 08 on the PS3 is the best FIFA game ever to be released on a Sony system. The graphics and music are top-notch, but that's standard for the game's last few years.
Where the game breaks new ground is in the physics department. Never have professional athletes been honoured with such life-like avatars. Every kick, deak and tackle looks and more importantly feels like the real thing. The new shooting mechanics are inspired as are the ball physics. Combined these two components push the realism through the roof.
The list of impressive attributes continues: loading times are nearly non-existent, Create-a-player is more robust, the arena interface (also found in EA's NBA LIVE 08) is simple and fun and the addition of custom formations is a long awaited boon.
Finally the return of "The Lounge", the tweaking of "Manager Mode" and the addition of the "Be-A-Pro Mode"(which allows the user to control only one player during the match) ups the replay value exponentially.
FIFA 08 is stellar - really an awesome buy for anyone looking for a great sports game. My only complaint involves the lacklustre commentary, which despite being broad in scope is less than enthusiastic.
That small flaw aside, EA has a real winner here. You will not be disappointed, I guarantee it.
